A Guide to Maintaining the Different Components of a Vape

Much has been developed in vaping since its inception. Now there are advanced control mods, low wattage pod systems, dozens of different types of e-liquids, and so on. Many of these are available in online vape shops in the UK, accessible to people from all walks of life.

One thing is certain of all these devices: they need specialized maintenance and care. After all, if you wish to make the most of your purchase, you have to take care of it. To help you maintain your vape kit, we have created this guide to basic maintenance vapes and similar devices. With no further ado, here it is:

The Tank

If you are using a disposable tank, then you can skip this section. Do not attempt to clean, refill, reuse it. Dispose of it properly and purchase a replacement in accordance with the instructions of your manufacturer.

If your tank is not disposable, you must disassemble it first. The plastic components of your tank must be rinsed in a solution of water and mild dishwashing soap. The metal components, on the other hand, should be cleaned with unflavored, high-grain alcohol such as vodka.

Once you are done cleaning the tank, wipe it or leave it to dry. Make sure to reconstruct everything properly so that the seals remain perfect.

The Coil

Avoid cleaning the coil with alcohol, as that may destroy it. The coils are not meant to be cleaned or reused, so replace it once it changes colour or becomes covered with gunk. The frequency at which you need to replace this depends on a number of things. Your device might have different specifications or you might be a frequent or infrequent user. Whatever the case may be, read the manual to understand when your coil will need replacement.

A good way to extend the use of your coil is to avoid letting your e-juice run too low before topping up. The wick needs to remain saturated, and the smaller the amount of liquid in your tank, the dryer your wick might end up.

The Eliquids

Yes, even that e-liquid from your local online vape shop needs maintenance. After all, if you hope to experience it at its highest level of quality, you have to keep it at optimum conditions. As a good rule of thumb, do not expose your e-liquids to extreme temperatures and the sun.

In high temperatures, the concentrates in your juices might begin to break down. This might result in a loss of flavours or even bad tastes. Most people keep their juices in the refrigerator, but this is often unnecessary. A cool, dry place such as a cupboard should do.

If you intend to forego using your device for a while, make sure to empty if of e-liquids as well. These can stain and potentially cause permanent damage to its components. If the tank is not empty, then keep it upright.

Final thoughts

Maintaining a vape device might seem daunting at first, but it follows a few fundamental principles. Essentially, all you need to do is to clean your tank regularly, replace your coils when needed, and to take care of your e-liquids. Make this a part of your routine and you will be making the most of your purchases!
