A Quick Guide for First-Time Vapers on E-Liquids - What to Know

If you've recently quit smoking or are looking for a new and fun hobby to try out, vaping might be something you are considering. That said, you'll be looking at e-liquids (vape juice) for the best flavours, or possibly one that replicates tobacco best.

Whatever the case may be, here's a guide to help you find the perfect vape juice:

Starting the Journey

With so many kinds of e-juices available on the market, you can easily be overwhelmed, trying to figure out which ones to choose. Of course, we won't tell you what you should be trying. After all, it is your taste, and everyone should vape the flavours they love.

With that said, most people tend to start with fruity flavours and fall in love with them. Some also opt for bubble-gum-flavoured vape juice, and even menthol.

All you must do here is to experiment with the flavours. The most important thing about vaping is that you're taking a puff of something you love.

It Takes Time to Get Used To

If you've been smoking for a while and just switched to vaping, be aware that you won't be used to the hobby right away. You might not be able to fully taste the liquids, to begin with, because your tongue is affected by cigarette smoking. Over time, however, your taste buds will slowly recover if you keep avoiding the cigarette.

Once your tongue is fully healed, not only will your vape juice taste amazing, but so will every other dish out there.

E-Liquids Going from Good to Bad

After vaping for a while, you might run into moments where your all-time-favourite bubble-gum-flavoured e-juice suddenly tastes terrible. While you might think it is because the juice has expired, it is most likely because something went wrong, particularly with your tongue.

When you overdo the vaping, your tongue starts to desensitize to the flavours, much like breathing in the same perfume for a while. The condition is known as Vaper's Tongue and is quite common.

In cases where your tongue goes completely blank, scrub it thoroughly. This should remove any film that is coating your tongue, allowing flavours to reach your taste buds once more. Drinking strong-flavoured drinks like black coffee can also help your tongue to "reset." Likewise, menthol e-liquids can also help in carrying flavour into your taste buds more effectively.

With that said, your Vaper's Tongue should disappear within a matter of days. However, you might end up dealing with it for a few weeks as well. Ensure that you have different flavoured e-liquids stored so that you can mix it up for your tongue occasionally. Drink plenty of water as well to keep your tongue moist and able to taste.

Bottom Line

While there are a few things to note when it comes to e-liquids, they're generally things you'll learn as you enjoy the activity. Remember, your choice of flavour is up to you, and if you've only recently stopped smoking, you'll take time to get used to the e-liquids as your tongue slowly recovers. If you are suddenly unable to taste your vapes, don't panic. You're dealing with vaper's tongue, and by following the tips we've mentioned, you'll get back to enjoying vaping in no time at all.
