Want to Make Your Own Vape Juice? Here’s How to Do It

Vaping has become a popular way to consume nicotine, especially among people trying to quit smoking cigarettes. Many people are interested in making their vape juice, but is it possible?

The short answer is yes, you can make your own vape juice. However, it's not as simple as just mixing some ingredients. You need to know a few things to make your own vape juice safely and effectively.

You first need to know what ingredients are needed to make vape juice.

Main Ingredients and Measurements

If you’re new to making your juice, start with a simple recipe and experiment with different flavour combinations until you find your perfect vape.

This recipe will use propylene glycol (PG), vegetable glycerin (VG), nicotine and flavour concentrates. You'll need to measure out each ingredient according to the following ratio:

  • PG: VG ratio of 70:30
  • Nicotine concentration of 6mg/ml
  • Flavour concentrate of 10%

You'll need to calculate the amount of each ingredient you need to mix. To do this, you'll need to know the volume of vape juice you're making. For this example, we'll be making 100ml of vape juice.

So, using the ratio and volume, we can calculate that we'll need 70ml of PG, 30ml of VG, 6ml of nicotine and 10ml of flavour concentrate.

1. Choose Your Base Liquid

The first step is to choose your base liquid. PG is thinner than VG and will produce less vapour. VG is thicker than PG and will produce more vapour. You can always mix the two in equal parts if you're unsure which to choose.

2. Add Flavourings

There are endless possibilities regarding flavours, so feel free to be creative. You can use any food-grade flavourings, such as extracts, oils or syrups. Just make sure to avoid any alcohol-based flavourings, as they will not vaporise properly.

3. Mix

If you’re using concentrated flavouring, you’ll want to add less than you would if you used an extract or oil. Once you’ve added your flavouring, give the juice a good shake to mix everything.

The ratio of PG to VG will vary depending on your personal preferences, but a good starting point is a 50/50 mix.

4. Let Your Juice Steep

Now it’s time to let your juice steep. Steeping is an important step in the process, as it allows the flavours to meld together and develop over time. You can steep your juice for a few hours if you're impatient. But if you want the best possible flavour, it’s best to let it steep for a week or two.

5. Add Nicotine

Once your juice has steeped, it’s time to add your nicotine.

To calculate the amount of nicotine solution to add, you'll need to know the nicotine strength of the solution and the desired nicotine level for your vape juice. For example, if you're using a 100mg/ml nicotine solution and want a final nicotine level of 3mg/ml, add 3ml of nicotine solution to your mix.

6. Bottle It Up!

Once you've added all of your ingredients, it's time to bottle your vape juice. Be sure to label your bottles, so you know the strength and flavour of each one.

Conclusion

Making your vape juice is not as difficult as it may seem. You can create unique flavours that satisfy your cravings with a few simple steps and the right ingredients. The most important thing to remember is to have fun and be creative. There are no rules when making vape juice, so go wild and experiment until you find the perfect recipe.
