Vaping Newbies: What Is the Right Amount of Nicotine to Use?

Vaping includes nicotine, but unlike tobacco, the e-liquid will have lower nicotine content. With that, you can explore various nicotine levels, and this can be tricky if it’s your first time doing it. The level of nicotine in your e-liquid impacts the “hit,” therefore, it should be satisfying. So, how do you choose the best nicotine level for vaping?

In EU member states, you can’t just walk into a vaping store and choose any e-liquid you like, regardless of its nicotine level. If you buy an e-juice that contains nicotine, the biggest bottle you can purchase is a 10ml one with a 20mg/ml nicotine content.

Confused? Let’s dive deeper!

E-Juice Nicotine Levels

The “mg” that you will hear and read when you check for nicotine content levels refers to “milligrams”, and “ml” refers to “millilitre” of e-liquids.

Now, nicotine shots also come in various strengths for when you add them to shortfills. For instance, if you add a single 10ml nicotine shot with a strength of 9 mg to 50ml of nicotine-free e-juice, you will get 60 ml of e-liquid with a nicotine strength of 1.5 mg.

E-liquid Nicotine Strength

If you’re new to the world of vaping, there are two factors to consider when choosing nicotine strength: your smoking habits and the type of device you use.

If you only smoke socially, which means a few cigarettes per day, you could be in the lower range. Meanwhile, if you smoke 10-20 cigarettes per day, you’ll be in the middle range. If you smoke more than a pack a day, then that places you in a higher range.

Low Vapour

Low vapour production has discreet clouds that are similar to the smoke produced by a cigarette. Usually, high-strength nic salts are the popular choice for this.

The regular nicotine level for low vapour is between 12 and 24 mg/mL and between 30 and 60 mg/mL for nicotine salts.

Medium Vapour

The devices that fall in this category can be anything, such as pod systems and even tanks. The regular nicotine level for medium vapour vapes is between 6 and 12 mg/mL. For nicotine salts, it’s between 20 and 30 mg/mL.

High Vapour

High vapour produces big clouds, which includes the use of powerful sub ohm tanks and rebuildable devices with large airflow channels. However, finding nic salts for this may be a bit challenging because the devices used for this product have so much vapour that it’s easy to get too much nic too quickly.

Regular nicotine for this is 15 to 6 mg/ml. For nic salts, it starts at 1.5 to 6 mg/mL.

Conclusion

Being a first-timer in vaping, it’s important you know this information about the nicotine levels you should use. As mentioned, you can’t just walk in a vape shop and choose anything you like, or keep adding to cart anything that seems promising. You need to know the right one for you to ensure you stay safe and give you the best vaping experience.
