Vape pods might be smaller, but they do offer more power than e-cigarettes and vape pens. They also use the same sub-ohm technology that mods use, however they do so with less power and lower temperatures. 

Pods are great for use with nic salts, which are naturally occurring nicotine deposits found on tobacco leaves. This puts it in stark contrast with conventional e-juice, which is made from pharmaceutical-grade or freebase nicotine. Nic salts have higher nicotine levels than e-liquids and provide a throat hit similar to that of cigarettes. This gives vapers the hit more quickly, allowing vapers to use their devices less. 

Their most significant advantage, however, is that they are more affordable. This comes with the caveat that it is far less customisable than mod boxes.
