What Are the Ways Vapers Can Extend Their Coil’s Lifespan?

Coils play a crucial part in your mod, which is why you want them to last as long as possible. If you're looking for ways to do so, check out the guide below.

Prime Your Coils before Use

If you bought a new coil from an online vape shop or your nearest vape shop, you must manually soak the wick with an e-liquid. Find the juice holes on the coil's head because this is where the wicking material is. Afterwards, drop several droplets of the e-liquid onto the spot until the coil cannot hold more of it.

In doing so, your wick is wholly primed and saturated. After doing these steps, it is better to vape on a lower wattage for your first few vapes to avoid flooding your coil and getting the opposite effect. If you want to avoid this, purchase modern vape kits since they have auto-priming technology.

Clean Your Coils Regularly

It would be best to clean your coils regularly to avoid the build-up of e-liquids around your coil. Let it soak in vinegar, ethanol, or cheap vodka for several hours or overnight, depending on the thickness of the e-liquid build-up. Afterwards, rinse it under the tap, and let the water run through its crevices.

Place it on an absorbent kitchen towel, and let it air dry for a couple of hours. Make sure it is dry before inserting it into your vape. But if you think cleaning it has not improved its condition, you might want to head into your vape shop to buy new coils.

Only Use High-Quality E-Liquids

Cheaper e-liquids usually contain vast amounts of sweeteners, known for damaging coils. They caramelize and destroy the components of vape kits, such as coils, and they get clogged up with e-liquids. It also compromises the wicks and prevents them from soaking up new juice.

On the other hand, premium brands use lower sweeteners in their e-liquid flavours. They also use premium ingredients, such as propylene glycol (PG), which are less damaging to your coils.

Make Sure Your Tank Is Full

Your wick will start to vaporize thin air if you do not have enough e-liquid left in your tank, and it will cause a disgusting burnt flavour and damage your coil in the long run. There are vape kits whose tanks have a minimum level indicator that tells you how much e-liquid you have left.

Check your local vape shop if they have vape tanks with minimum level indicators. Also, ask whether they sell a vape tank extension. It ensures you can put more e-liquid in your tank, which is convenient if you do not like the hassle of continuously checking if it is full of e-liquid.

Lower Your Power Setting

You vaporize more e-juice per puff if you use your vape at a higher wattage. Suppose you are doing this for tricks, since it creates more enormous clouds, then good. Be mindful that it can affect the condition of your coils.

Since you are using your vape at a high power setting, your wick will struggle to soak up the juice quickly to keep up. And when it cannot keep up, your wick will burn. It is better to start at the lower setting before working your way up to avoid damaging your coil.

Final Note

Troubleshooting vape coils is easy because they are mechanical products. All you have to do is learn how to do it, and it will be easy from there. When you have coils causing you trouble, you can ask a vape shop employee to help you with it.
